### Social
- Community/events oriented at making the most of our lives. I have a bunch of ideas for this
- Community where people min/max basic life stuff like diet/exercise/meditation/sleep (hard to do on your own)
- Various forms of reflection events
- e.g. Can you think of what you 3 years from now would say to current you? Can you actually do it? Can you build dynamic systems that are self-reinforcing enough that change you want actually happens
- The world looks like it's changing fast - are there things it's worth doing now to make the most of it? You are going to die eventually. With that in mind, how do you want to live?
### Valence Projects
- Investigate [Xenon's therapeutic benefits](priority blog) and see if they seem high enough to warrant trying to build a xenon rebreather (xenon is too expensive to use without a rebreather)
- Context: xenon has similar subjective effects to nitrous but is much safer and there are many studies that make it seem like it could have serious mental health benefits. I'm especially interested in xenon for addiction and treatment resistant depression
- Investigate drug assisted meditation
- Interesting candidates:
- Kratom
- Meditating while on kratom can lead to the pleasurable sensations persisting afterwards
- Memantine
- Seems like it makes entering flow easier and reduces distractibility for me without the side-effects of stimulants
- MDMA analogues that are legal, last longer and have fewer side-effects
### Physical Product
- High res AI tapestries - make say 100k x 100k pixel images and print them and make tapestries with incredible levels of detail
- Create an analog projector designed to run for long periods of time and use extremely high resolution film slides from AI generated images (since analogue doesn't have pixel limits)
- This is already doable but I'd want one that's short throw and can run for long periods of time (old analogue projectors have bulbs that don't last that long because of how hot they burn)
### Skill Acquisition
My general hypothesis: most curriculum violates [Tesler's law](https://github.com/dwmkerr/hacker-laws?tab=readme-ov-file#the-law-of-conservation-of-complexity-teslers-law:~:text=Brooks'%20Law-,The%20Law%20of%20Conservation%20of%20Complexity%20(Tesler's%20Law),-The%20Law%20of) and pushes too much complexity onto the learner. I think we can craft systems that reduce the cognitive overhead (like [autodeck](https://www.seangoedecke.com/autodeck/)) of learning and maintaining skills. I think we can also create memes that are the [inverse of parasitic processing](https://dismantledmind.com/parasitic-processing/) and make people's lives better.
- Curriculum on acquiring the skills talked about in [Effortless Mastery](https://www.amazon.in/Effortless-Mastery-Kenny-Werner/dp/156224003X) and [the Inner Game of Tennis](the inner game of tennis) ([h/t Visa](https://x.com/visakanv/status/1709080935348777034))
- Curriculum on learning the art of [metacognition](https://x.com/taijitu_sees/status/1978529583109374215) and rationality that has real feedback loops
### Other
- Find and filter low cost (less than ~10$/hr) but high skill / reliability PA's and programmers to share with people (in an ideal world I would have a team of such people working on all the ideas on this page)
- the poorly named [r/slavelabour](https://www.reddit.com/r/slavelabour/) is a good place to find such people
- Try to hedge for the world going weird
- Buy a bunker?
- Weird finance things
- Task.broker, put quick but annoying tasks (that take less than an hour) that are worth something in the 1 $ to 30 $ range
- Test [s-modafinil](https://moreisdifferent.substack.com/p/could-s-modafinil-be-the-new-caffeine)
- You can [make modafinil at home](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=og1yL6Vfcn8) and I've heard that it's not too hard to isolate the enantiomer but could be wrong
### Software
- Mood rating app with friend sharing to see each other's data over time
- Random sampling app to get data on your behavior/feelings over time (inspired by [this lw post](https://www.lesswrong.com/posts/9sguwESkteCgqFMbj/seven-shiny-stories#:~:text=.%20Text%20(an%20idea%20from%20Lights%2C%20Camera%2C%20Action!%2C%20in%20which%20I%20advocate%20aggressive%20and%20frequent%20introspection%20to%20collect%20as%20much%20data%20as%20possible)))
- Especially interested in combining this with blood tests
- LLM todolist app - I think these exist and I should try some of the existing ones
- [Incremental reading](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NURjZuHvDaU) interface on top of twitter
- [SuperMemo plan](https://help.supermemo.org/wiki/Plan) clone
- LLM feeds optimized for good (inspired by [autodeck](https://www.seangoedecke.com/autodeck/))
- [Incremental reading](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NURjZuHvDaU) app with direct browser integration
- [Twitter like app where prompted AI reply to you with helpful advice](https://rajt.org/Old+Archive/Resources/Ideas/Bot+Twitter)
- Comparison sorting app with a good GUI and algorithm
- Existing such apps: - [LITOY](https://github.com/thiswillbeyourgithub/LiTOY-aka-List-that-Outlives-You), [Acertain's Todo Sorter](https://github.com/acertain/todo-sorter), [Rank My Favs for Android](https://github.com/dessalines/rank-my-favs/)
- Would like a web version
- Tinder for Tabs
- Signal what you're doing to your friends in a low effort way ([inspiration](https://twitter.com/gptbrooke/status/1770601560130896291?t=t-XitiAlzEKOf1DeGJxlLQ&s=19)))
- _is there an app where i can broadcast what i'm up to (going to concerts, meetups, having a dinner party) to (a subset of) my friends who might be interested in joining me without having to message each one every time?_
- Twitter but you explicitly rate tweets to curate your tweet
- [Linus.zone](linus.zone) clone - make it very quick to make URL redirects from a personal domain to whatever you want. This should be very easy
- [Pronunciation trainers](pronunciation trainers) train you to recognize sounds in a target language. Something similar but for recognizing notes and scales in music
